Low-emission economy as a challenge of the 21st century

In the modern world, actions aimed at drastic and lasting economic transformations based on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere are inevitable. This is a challenge of the 21st century, but the implementation of an active climate policy that protects not only human life and health, but also industry and the natural environment is now a priority. There is no doubt that repairing long-term climatic, environmental and natural damage will involve both large financial outlays and also that we will have to wait some time for spectacular and real effects. This is obvious, because the world cannot be repaired overnight, it cannot be rebuilt in a few days or months. There is no doubt, however, that investing in a low-carbon economy. It’s the only and the best rescue for humanity and the future of the world.

Old habits

Until recently, the world was directed to a much cheaper, more accessible and for centuries known coal. Hardly anyone, however, realized that onerous smog, genetic diseases, neoplastic diseases, respiratory diseases, and mass fever of fish, animals or agricultural failures – these are unpleasant consequences of using coal as the main source of energy. We were used to what seemed to us to be tested, financially convenient and what we did not have to specially solicit. Besides themes of ecology, care for the natural environment, for the atmosphere, for what we breathe, and then we walk, for what surrounds us – actually they did not exist. Only when the problem was put on the pedestal, the institutions were established and the research was carried out, and the actual effort was made to ensure that the low-emission economy really became a fact.

Low-emission economy, creating its structures, building foundations, financing – this is undoubtedly a XXI challenge that does not guarantee immediate results. This perspective may even create a sense of such a long distance that it’s not worth investing in it. Nevertheless, if someone asked us on the street, do we love our loved ones? Is their goodness and security important to us? We would certainly give an affirmative answer, which is synonymous with the fact that if we want to protect ourselves, what we have, our relatives and future generations – low-emission economy, we must start today!

People’s thinking

It’s said that everything begins in our mind. All changes, changes in attitude and the beginnings of action have their source there. One man, one organization – they are unable to repair the planet and extend the life of humanity. People have to understand that their actions, such as utilization of rubbish, waste, faeces, felling of trees or burning in a coal furnace, contribute to their self-annihilation. Very often we do not realize that natural, simple and ecological change may turn out to be simply cheaper, more profitable in the long term for us in the world.

Ad hoc changes

We can see changes in the global economy at this moment. They are visible, for example, through a legally sanctioned ban on burning rubbish, transporting them to forests, fields, wind and hydro plants, co-financing for innovative technologies used in an increasing number of households around the world, such as solar plants. It’s worth saying loud and clear that changes towards the better have already taken place, but you should not allow them to stop or degrade, only to develop. By focusing, for example, on wind farms, they actually earn on themselves, act like a battery or power bank, and produce energy (also heat water) through air movements and atmospheric conditions. In addition, an increasing number of households use natural gas or recently popular pellets as fuel. Pellets are nothing more than only granular wood wastes that have the same value as cut wood, and they protect forests just against excessive felling, as this is not necessary when processing this material. Low-emission economy also means changes related to the functioning of the largest corporations and industrial enterprises, which use energy in particularly large quantities, for them just wind or hydro power plants are an excellent alternative for development. There is no doubt that the low-emission of CO2 into the atmosphere will work positively on our health, thanks to all the diet supplements, vitamins and minerals we use on a daily basis will be able to successfully fulfil their role.
